Jankovic comes back to beat Halep (AP)

Fourth-seeded Jelena Jankovic came back to avoid a big upset in the first round of the U.S. Open, edging 18-year-old Simona Halep of Romania 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 Tuesday. Halep served for the match while leading 5-4 in the third set, and she came within two points of victory. But Jankovic broke her there, and took the final three games.
